Top Five: Halloween Costumes

  • Oct. 31st, 2007 at 1:08 PM
Happy Halloween, everyone! Instead of doing candy today, let's list the top five favorite Halloween costumes! These can be costumes you've worn, costumes you'd like to wear, or costumes you just think are seriously cool. If there isn't enough room in the box to give details, please share in comments. Let's spread around some Halloween love, and give ideas to everyone for next year. Feel free to post pictures in the comments, but try to keep them to a reasonable size.

Okay, Halloween is tomorrow, and along with the good always comes a little bad. What are the five worst candies or treats (doesn't have to be candy) you've received in your loot bag?

Top Five: Candy (part 1)

  • Oct. 29th, 2007 at 1:34 PM
Because Halloween is coming up and the holiday is probably the holiday when candy is given most freely, the Top Five today will focus on candy. I might try to do a run of these this week, since there are so many types of candy. It all depends on how much time I find myself having each day.

For this Top Five, choose your five favorite candies from any category (chocolate, gum, hard candies, jellies or gummies, etc.).

Top Five: Movie Soundtracks (take 2)

  • Oct. 19th, 2007 at 11:18 PM
Still in movie-land here on this Top Five... Share your Top Five favorite movie soundtracks (not just songs) from musicals that have been made into movies. Since many people used these for the last Top Fives anyhow, this one really shouldn't be all that difficult. ;)

We're stuck on movies for the moment. I really will get around to other top five lists, I promise. ;) Remember, if you have ideas for lists, let me know! For this poll, please pick your top five favorite MOVIE soundtracks. Please try to avoid movies made from musicals if possible. That's another top five for later. ;)

Top Five: Favorite Movie Quotes

  • Oct. 12th, 2007 at 3:03 PM
Okay folks, let's see if you can come up with five of your favorite movie quotes. It doesn't matter what type of movie or what type of quote. I'm going to friends lock this to prevent people from cheating at the poll. I'm also going to post this to [info]top_five, so if you'd like to play along there, feel free. :)

This might be a tough one, but take your time. Feel free to use IMDB or whatever resources you need to get your quotes if necessary.

Edited to add: Duh. I forgot with text boxes that the answers are automatically hidden anyhow. I'm opening this back up to the public. ;)

Okay, I know quite a few of you played along last week. I made mention of the top five in one of my bullet posts, but I don't think anyone caught it (I have a feeling most people skip those posts anyhow). The comments have all been unscreened if you're interested in checking them out.

So, question for you, my dear friends: Would you be interested in continuing the Top Five here? Would you rather participate at [info]top_five (currently inactive, but I am planning to work on that)? Hmm... I think this calls for a poll. ;)

If you check out the community, ignore everything over there for now. I haven't made any changes yet and only acquired it last week I think.

Also, if anyone is interested in playing and would care to submit topics, feel free to comment or send me an email or IM.

Okay, kids. Hurricane Sophie has hit once again, so I need to clean up the aftermath...

  • I actually won a little contest over at Get My Knit On because for some reason the name Lorenzo Lamas will forever be burned into my brain. Go me.
  • We're looking at ordering a turken or turducken for Thanksgiving this year. Yum! My parents are coming down after Thanksgiving so this really won't be on Thanksgiving. My mother also said she doesn't like duck, so if I can find a turken, we'll skip the duck, I suppose.

  • Quite a few people participated in the Top Five I posted last week. All the comments have been unscreened. [info]catscar had the suggestion to use a poll instead of screening comments, and I think that's a marvelous idea. I now own [info]top_five, but haven't done anything with it yet. For the people who played last week, would you be interested in joining the community or would you rather just play here? I think for now I'm going to post a top five topic for the week and let people fill it out as they can. I'd love to have suggestions for topics. Let's see if I can keep up with once a week for something like this. ;)
  • We're probably going to the Fort Worth Zoo next Wednesday. I'm pretty excited. I just hope the weather cooperates (as of right now it should be beautiful that day).
  • We might be going to Middlefaire this year. Some of B's friends are going down there to play.
  • The Dream Dinners menus for the next couple months look out of control good! I doubt I'll be ordering too much in November, though. I am not using Dream Dinners for Thanksgiving dinner.
  • Anyone want an extremely blond peekapoo?
  • Tonight is Tuscan Turkey Medallions with garlic and Parmesan penne pasta, spinach salad, and grilled corn on the cob. I wouldn't bother with the corn if B wasn't planning on using the grill already. Now, if he would just get home!

That's about all I've got. It's a big bag of nothin', really. Because of that, I'll leave you with a cute picture from our last pool time.

It's been a long time since I've done a Top Five list. I'm not even sure I've ever posted one here before or not. I really need to get into the habit of it.

Actually, I think I'm going to make this an ongoing participatory event. I might need to work out a few kinks, but let's try this.

How to participate:

  1. I will post a Top Five topic in my blog, with my top five list behind a cut.

  2. You must have five items and only five items in your list!

  3. State if your list is in no particular order or number it if it is.

  4. Please don't peek behind the cut until you've commented with your Top Five. We don't want to taint lists. ;)

  5. I probably will need to screen comments, won't I? *sigh* I will keep them screened for a few days. Someone may need to remind me to unscreen them. Perhaps I will screen them until the next Top Five is announced. I'm thinking I'll do this once a week.

  6. Feel free to supply me with lots and lots of topics. :)

  7. Also, feel free to offer advice to make it run more smoothly!! :)

Is there a community for this? I should do a search. Later, perhaps.

If you've never seen the movie High Fidelity before, I highly recommend you check it out.
