She's a Lady... bug!

  • Oct. 31st, 2007 at 9:46 PM
Halloween was a huge hit. Sophie had a blast and was so well behaved. B took her around trick-or-treating and they actually hit more houses than I expected. B said she carried her little pumpum (pumpkin) bucket the entire time and held onto his hand the entire time without being reminded. She even wore the little antennae I made for her the entire time (she was pulling the headband off earlier). What a trooper! Of course, we wound up giving out some of the candy she had gotten because we ran out near the very end. I had to chuckle at her with how protective she was of her little bucket because she doesn't really know what candy is yet (although she does know the sign for it). I let her have the Goldfish tonight (I need to vacuum tomorrow).

Happy Halloween, everyone! Instead of doing candy today, let's list the top five favorite Halloween costumes! These can be costumes you've worn, costumes you'd like to wear, or costumes you just think are seriously cool. If there isn't enough room in the box to give details, please share in comments. Let's spread around some Halloween love, and give ideas to everyone for next year. Feel free to post pictures in the comments, but try to keep them to a reasonable size.

If you haven't checked the results from yesterday's Top Five, you might want to. They're very interesting, I think.

Halloweenie update

This weekend we are hoping to hit a pumpkin patch with Sophie. I haven't carved pumpkins in years. I'm actually looking forward to it. I told B I wanted to find a battery operated light for inside the pumpkins and he said I was lame. Pft.

We should be getting the tutu for Sophie's costume next week sometime. I still haven't found antennae, but I might break down and make them myself. We have a party to attend next Saturday, so she'll be wearing the costume for that. I hope the wings hold up. That will be the true test!

I might take her to a few homes in the neighborhood, I haven't decided yet. It all depends on when B is able to get home from work that night.

All the bags are packed and ready to hand out. I'm sure the kids and parents will be a bit confused by them. Each bag contains at least one small packet of Skittles, Starburst, two Kit Kats (different flavors), a box of raisins, and a prune (individually wrapped, of course). Now that I think about it, I'm not entirely positive the raisins have plastic wrap on them. Darn it all. I'll have to double check. I picked up the boxes I did because they were the smallest. If they aren't wrapped, I'll pick up the bigger boxes that are wrapped. I know B won't mind taking the raisins to work for snacks. I might include our name and address in the bag just to reassure parents. Haven't decided on that one yet, though.

I have no decorations up for fall or Halloween. I'm not terribly worried about it this year, but might do something next year. I'll have to take a look around after Halloween and see what's on sale this year. This is the first year in a long time I'm actually excited about Halloween, though. :)

Halloween preview

I cannot wait for Halloween this year. I can't remember the last time I said that, either. The reason for all my excitement is the adorable costume Miss Thang will be sporting this year. I am half tempted to let Daddy sit outside with her on the front lawn so she can watch all the kids going by. I don't know that I'll take her trick or treating this year. 18 months is just a little too young for that, I think.

In any case, we have the black onesie, the black tights, the black shoes... and today we got the adorable wings!!

I know [info]isyllt has the tulle for the tutu and I seriously can't wait to see the finished product. This is going to be one of the most adorable costumes ever! What I love most about it is everything I bought except for the wings and the tutu can be used for everyday wear. Even the tutu and wings will be used again for dress up, I'm sure. How fun!!

I think the only thing I have left to find is a headband with antennae.

Costume ideas

Today, Sophie and I are going to Hurst to meet [info]isyllt and discuss Halloween costume options for Sophie. I am so excited! We'll be having lunch at Red Robin and brainstorming about the possibilities.

I'm not exactly sure what I want Sophie to be this year. Last year we were going to get her a ladybug costume, just for when the trick or treaters came around. We wound up not getting one because they were all out by the time we tried to buy it. I think the costume this year will be mostly for the trick or treaters as well, but I can't wait to get some pictures of her in a costume, either.

Please, if you have any ideas of what a little toddler could be for Halloween, feel free to share them! We're thinking ladybug, angel, fairy... B says porcupine, but I'm not so sure about that.
