A few things...

Jodi
  • I have to say apparently many of the fans at Nationals Stadium are twelve because it's pretty rude and disrespectful of them to boo the president. I can't think of many things I like about GW but that doesn't mean I'm going to disrespect the man and boo him off the field. Didn't these people ever learn manners? I don't like Hillary, but that doesn't mean I'm going to boo her off a field (or anywhere, for that matter).
  • Keith Olberman is a little too bitter and angry for me.
  • .
  • Wal*Mart is the devil.
  • The Kritter gets cuter and cuter. Things she's been doing lately:
    • We had the most disgusting poop experience we have had yet with her. This is total payback for not having to deal with nasty poops when she was little. I'll post details behind a cut, though, as this isn't very cute... at all.
    • I woke up this morning shortly after 3:30 to Sophie nursing. She went to bed in the guest room and I honestly have no idea how she managed to crawl into bed with us. It's a little higher than the other bed and she has a difficult time getting into that bed without help. She then asked me to change her diaper (I obliged) and when I tried to put her back to bed in the guest room, she wanted to nurse again. I absolutely will not nurse in the middle of the night anymore (I'm SO tired of nursing, really), so I told her she could have a cup of milk instead. She actually wasn't too difficult to get to sleep after that. She asked me to rub her back and then she asked to cuddle.
    • She has not only been signing words lately, but has been taking the time to tell us how to sign words (dessert: you take two "d's" and tap them!). Cracks me up.
    • She says, "Mommy, you're beautiful" and "My favorite Mommy" and "Friends with Mommy." Makes my heart melt. She also tries to sign friend with me where she hooks her finger with mine. Too cute!
    • She loves to make shapes with her Play-Doh. We have lots of fun rolling it out and using my cookie cutters.
    • We say prayers together at night and she alternates lines with me instead of repeating me. The child remembers so much!
    • Before prayers, we read books, and she's able to read along with us (thanks to her memory, I'm sure). She gets very involved in every book we read (always the same books), including 10 Little Ladybugs, Henry Builds a Cabin, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Knuffle Bunny, and The Perfect Purple Feather.
    • She loves to play in the sand. She calls it snow. She says she's making snowballs. I'm not sure why she would do that since we've never played in the snow before. Crazy kid.
    • Last week we had a picnic lunch and she talked about it for days. We only took the picnic basket to the front yard but she thought it was the best fun she'd ever had. To complete that day, we took her out to Chili's with us and she talked about going to the restaurant for days afterward as well. Sometimes she really amazes me with the things she remembers.
  • I hope the chicken pox disappear soon. Sophie has two new spots and I have no idea how many I have. Mine have mostly been in my hair and on my back (haven't had a lot, but enough to drive me nuts). I don't normally go many places, but I hate being confined by something I can't control. I have things I want to do this week! JoAnn Fabric is having a sale on all of their sewing notions and I want to pick up a few things. I also want to get some material for a few outfits for Sophie.
  • Bibs are coming along nicely. I have more to cut out, but they're getting better and better.
  • I need to pick up my needles again soon and get the blanket for my niece finished. Gah.
  • I also need to get my Craigslist stuff listed. B is tired of seeing it (as am I) and we could use the money.

I think that's about all there is for now. I've forgotten things I wanted to mention, as usual.

Today we had sirens go off for bad weather. I decided (even though it didn't look bad) it was a good time for a drill anyhow, so we gathered up a few things and made our way to the closet in the master bedroom. Sophie was totally cool with this since she likes to play hide and seek in there when we're getting dressed. So, the dog, the Kritter, and myself were all sitting down and playing in the closet. At one point, I thought Sophie had filled her diapers and I asked her if she pooped. She said, "No, just farts." I didn't stop to do a sniff test, and we kept playing (I figured I'd get a good enough whiff of it as she was running around and didn't need to piss her off). Next thing I notice, I hear Chui licking the carpet (he always does this and we find it terribly annoying). I go to tell him to stop and I realize he's actually eating her poop!! I was shocked because I still hadn't smelled it at this point. I did a quick inspection and saw it's gone up her back and out the top of her skirt and onto her shirt (and onto the floor, apparently). Ugh. Since the weather wasn't that bad, I decided to just give her a bath in our tub (had to do it twice because she was such a mess). All I can say is... what a freakin' stinkin' mess. I hope I don't have to deal with that again anytime soon.

bibs: How much are you charging for these? I would like a couple of nice toddler sized bibs for corbin, with either a snap or strong velcro for the cover (not ties) and some sort of vinyl or other material so stuff doesn't soak through. If they are affordable, lol. :)

(cloth on top of course though, the waterproof stuff for the backing.)

Yeah, I figured that's what you meant. ;)

I haven't gotten around to combining anything other than cotton prints and flannel yet but I've been toying with that idea. Sophie doesn't like to wear bibs all that often but is okay with me putting a dishtowel around her neck with a chip clip at the back. All of the bibs I've made so far have been smaller, but I've been thinking about making large bibs for toddlers as well...

You've got me thinking, that's for sure!

yeah, sometimes I go over to my mom's and forget to bring a bib so I use a dishtowel and a clothes pin too, lol. Just let me know if you start any toddler bibs....you could email me at jemmind@gmail.com.

And man I hope you two get better soon!!! We know what the chicken pox feel like, and they SUCK!!

Yeah, gross is right, believe me. Ugh!

We both have pretty mild cases and neither of us feels sick or anything. Sophie's aren't even itching from what I can tell. It makes it more difficult to stay in the house!

This is my third time. The doctor told me years ago I could get it again, but that it should be a mild case. Had I not had Sophie vaccinated, it's highly possible hers would be much worse as well.

I've had similar poop experiences (minus the dog).

I think the dog was the part that disgusted me the most, to be honest. Yuck. :(

I didn't read about the poop, no offense.
What do you have for Craigslist?
I signed up for BzzAgent but haven't done anything yet.
Finally - we need to arrange a marriage between our children, assuming no one in your family has old-fashioned views on interracial marriage. Our children would spawn or raise super-smart children who would one day rule the earth. Although, seriously, and don't tell anyone I said this, I think Sophie might be smarter than Jack.

None taken. That's why I put it behind the cut. ;)

I have mostly stuff that Sophie doesn't use anymore (or never used). I know there's other stuff out there (my collection of apple wall hangings, a wedding dress and accessories, an insane amount of yarn...) but I don't remember everything.

I absolutely love BzzAgent. The best way to build points is to "play" in the Frogpond. Whenever there are no campaigns going, I try to rate all the websites. I need to get back in there and rate a few more.

LOL I'm game for an arranged marriage. Both sets of grandparents might balk at first, but I think they'd come around.

I would probably boo George W. Bush for throwing out the first pitch at a Nationals game, for reasons that have nothing to do with politics. He was part-owner of a team in the other league; if he wants to go back to Arlington to throw out the first pitch at a Rangers' game, I can get behind that.

I guess I see the idea behind restoring the tradition of "President throws out the first pitch at the DC team's home opener", but it just doesn't quite ring true to me.
[info]sm00bs wrote:

I can understand that. I have a feeling the majority of the people there didn't even know that. Also, I think a large percentage of those people were only booing because others were.

I didn't even realize that had stopped. Perhaps they should have waited just one year given GW's popularity (or lack thereof).
[info]nppyinzer wrote:

I thought it stopped when DC didn't have a team, between the Senators leaving for Minnesota and the Expos moving south. Now that I think about it, the tradition might have just migrated to Baltimore; I'm not entirely sure.
[info]sm00bs wrote:

I honestly didn't know DC had a team originally. I haven't followed baseball since I was a kid, and even then it was only in passing because the Tigers had won the World Series. Of course, then there was the strike and the controversy over Tiger Stadium... Blah. I gave up on baseball years ago.

Hockey is where it's at. ;) I'd laugh my ass off if the prez were to go out on the ice, no matter who it is! ;)

I've had my fair share of those gross poops... Kyle used to be very sensative to milk and if we weren't careful he'd eat cheese and yogurt all day resulting in nasty nasty poops... I feel for ya!

I think it's wrong to boo the president as well... I don't care who it is.

And you're little girl is sooo cute! I love hearing about all the things she does.

No clue what caused it, but she had two nasty diapers yesterday as well (not nearly as bad, though).

I have serious issues with disrespecting various figures of authority. I was taught not to do so. I guess it stuck.

LOL thanks! She's entertaining, to say the least... ;)

Yeah, I consider myself very lucky with that, too. I will just have to remember these things when she's calling me a bitch and telling me she hates me and that I've ruined her life. LOL

BTW, thought of you when the whole poop incident happened. Didn't you guys have a similar experience a while back?

i shouldn't have said anything. we ended up having our own super gross poos the past couple days. fortunately for me daddy's been the one to clean them up, but i still get the laundry aftermath.

it hasn't been as bad as yours though.

ROFL!! Yay Mike! B can't handle poop, especially has nasty as what Sophie's had lately. He physically can't handle it and goes into full-on gag mode.

We've really been pretty lucky as far as poops go for the most part. She wasn't a pooper when she was really young, I think partially due to the breastmilk/formula combo. Even when we dropped the formula, she still didn't really poop much until she started solids. Every now and then she'll still go a day or two without a poop and I expect a big one after that. I probably should have been prepared for this one since her previous poops had been smallish.

Ugh... I can't believe I'm talking about poop. I am SO the parent that used to annoy me. ;)

I really hope you guys never have to experience that one (of if it happens that it happens at daycare!!!). ;)

My sister's first had a wee problem with food staying down, and so was prescribed something to stop her being sick, which made the other end throughly unpleasant!

The second was lactose intolerant so she was always sick to start with, and more recently has only just been properly toilet trained and she's just turned 4.

If it's one thing I adore about our flavour of patriotism in the UK, is that it's not considered unpatriotic to boo the Prime Minister...

If the guy does stupid things, he should expect boos!

Sorry 'bout the tangent there :P
[info]sm00bs wrote:

I could probably understand if GW had just done something that warranted a boo, but for him to just walk out onto the field? That's a little ridiculous, I think.

I somehow get the impression that if this man were to be wounded and require medical attention or if he were to fall to his knees because of a heart attack and all of his booers were doctors, not one of them would come to his aid.

They don't have to cheer the guy. I was taught that if you don't have anything nice to say, not to say anything at all. Boo isn't nice. LOL!

No worries. ;)
