Okay, here we go again with the poll...

First, a little explanation as to why I'm changing the options.

[info]lindalee_ mentioned that using 00 in whatever name I select might lead to confusion, and she's very right. Ever since I've been using this name, there's always been a bit of confusion. I don't want to carry that over to a possible website or something for people to search since they might not realize they're zeros.

I believe [info]pensivesea mentioned that Tiny Treasures is a little overused and she's very right. I was actually doing a search on it as she was typing her comment and I found a mess of sites all related to baby items or daycare and don't really want to have to compete with that (or run into legal issues with it, for that matter).

Now, that out of the way, I suppose we'll be starting over here. I'm so anxious to get these ordered! I think my biggest problem right now is coming up with a cute logo. Any artist out there care to offer up any cute and adorable designs? :)

Poll #1155642

Which name would you suggest for tags for sewn items that might possibly be sold at some point?

Sugar Nook Crafts

Other (please take into consideration the points mentioned above)

If you selected Other, please list your suggestion here.

Also, don't forget the Friending Frenzy! If your name is listed in the main entry, make sure you've added a comment about yourself. If your name is not listed in the main entry but you're interested in joining in the fun, let me know because there will be another round.

I need to do a post about a few Bzz campaigns I'm doing. I'll be giving away some coupons for free products if anyone is interested. I haven't decided if I want to do a trivia quiz or just a first comment first serve type of thing. I need to do it soon, though!

I have videos and pictures to post if I ever get around to it. We're either having issues with our router or our ISP and any pictures we host here cannot be seen by anyone else. It's becoming highly annoying.

[info]winter_in_asia has posted an entry about no content in his journal for those of you upset by recent LJ changes. I know at least one or two people on my f-list are upset by this, so please take the time to check out his entry and join in if you wish. It might be a slow day for the Salmon....

Does anyone have ideas for other items I might be able to sew quickly and sell? Thanks to [info]msbluerasp, I've added zippered pouches and pincushions to my list of things to try. I'm guessing I could probably do placemats and napkins as well. I've also considered making simple purses of some sort. I'm really thinking about setting up an Etsy account and selling the bibs and all the stitch markers I've made so far, and was trying to come up with anything else I might want to add to the mix there.

We'll be fish sitting this week for Thomas the Beta, our neighbor's fish. Exciting, no? I think it will be interesting for Sophie to see another fish other than the ones we have at least.

Okay, I think that's it for now.

I see people on Etsy all the time offering tags and/or stuff to run your etsy shop. They have a forum section if you haven't seen it already and there is a section where you can post what you need with how much you are willing to pay, and people can bid on giving you what you want. Etsy does everything...I love them.

I'm not sure how quick and easy these are but these are a few bookmarks I've saved on a craft vibe that caught my eye:

Pretty bat mats

Hanging Organizer

Custom Draft Reducer

Cutesy mini totes

What about runners for dining room tables? I know I always had a hard time finding nice ones. They'd be easy to make I'd think. Just like sewing a rectangle right? LOL

I'm having sewing machine envy though for you right now. I need to get out there and figure out what I'm gonna do about that.

Ooh, I love all of those!! You're killing me, here. Okay, I really need to get cracking on my sewing!

You know, I love the table runner idea! I had such a difficult time finding one last year at Christmas. I'll have to look into making one and see how it turns out.

My problem with most of this stuff is coming up with ideas for embellishments. I really need to challenge my creativity. :)

Good luck with your machine!

I agree, thats the hardest part, making it personal and the detail.

Whatever you chose, take pics!

Most definitely!!

I need to find a good supplier of material and notions, I think. I can continue to buy fabric at Joanne when it's on sale, but I'd rather be able to just order it and be done (otherwise I buy other things I don't need). Besides, I'd like to have fabrics that are out of the ordinary but don't cost an arm and a leg.

I found a book you might be interested in. I'm going to post about it soon (haven't found a link for it yet).

Hah, I'm actually excited about all of these potential projects! The knitted baby blanket will NEVER get done at this rate. ;)

I love being excited about stuff, its the best! At least you'll never be bored with having so many projects on the go!

Etsy has decent priced fabrics online, if you don't mind not being able to touch them and see in person. I mean at least they aren't quilting store rates. And they are stylish fabrics like Amy Butler and Michael Miller that everyone seems to be using. (I should work for Etsy, jeez.)

Anyway, since I live out in the middle of nowhere, I think I may down the road when I commit to needing something I can't find here, I'll buy off there. They have notions too, you just have to do a search. You likely have way more sources where you live though, lucky duck.

Well, between the quilt shop prices and the mundane of Joanne and Hancock, there's not much left as far as brick and mortar goes. I'll have to see if I can find any suggestions on MomPack.

Could you see me lasting 24 hours without LJ. Nah, just not going to happen I'm afraid. I'd be climbing the walls within hours

LOL Yeah, I had a feeling you wouldn't be going for that. ;)

I sit here, looking at the number of posts I have made, and have to stop myself making another. I have a whole load of posts saved up for tomorrow because I didn't want to crowd the posts too much today.

The thought of a day without LJ is just too scary for words

LOL. If you DID take a day off, imagine how filled the day prior or after the event might be!

It's just to scary to think about. I'd probably sit writing everything into M$Word including codes so that at the stroke of midnight I could cut and paste all the posts in. LOL

You know... that's not a half bad idea. ;)

Although, I'd probably use notepad. HTML tends to copy over weird from Word. :p

But Sm00babies is such a good name...

I do agree. If it weren't for the zeros, it might actually work. The problem is, all my friends would try to use zeros and all the new people would try OOs, so it's a lose lose unless I register both, and I don't really want to do that. ;)
[info]louenn wrote:

That is very true. Not a lot that can be done, unless you deliberately use a font that has the zeros crossed through?

But then you wouldn't be able to have a cute logo such as the double 00 being glasses on the baby's face or something.
[info]sm00bs wrote:
Mar. 17th, 2008 09:36 pm (UTC)
I might still be able to incorporate the double zeros in the logo. I haven't decided yet.
[info]louenn wrote:

All the names you have do have "oo" in them, so that would work.

I'm just biased towards Sm00babies or Sm00bibs though... ;)
[info]sm00bs wrote:

Yeah, I do like Sm00babies.. a lot.

However, another way to rationalize me not using either of these... a) It's highly unlikely I'll stick with just bibs and b) it's probably I'll even get away from just baby items.

Now I'm beginning to wonder if Sugar Nook Boutique is too cutesy for anything other than baby things....
[info]louenn wrote:

You could probably get to toddlers and first couple of years of school, but not any older than that with Sugar Nook Boutique.

But it's the same with Sm00babies.

Ho-hum.

Stupid question: What is a Sm00? I've always wondered how you got that name.

LOL... I really need to write this up as an entry. It's not terribly exciting, but I've answered it a few times through the years in comments. Remind me, and I'll post about it soon. ;)

Sewing
Wetbags! I need Wetbags! Max won't let me buy as many as I think we need, because he thinks they're too expensive. I'm going to get two from a WAHM, for $13.50 each. I'll trade you some scrapbooking or web design or something for a wetbag! (Have I mentioned that I need wetbags?)

Re: Sewing
What sort of material would be used for a wetbag? Are they just zippered? I always just use a zip top plastic bag leftover from our Dream Dinners so they get more than one use. Do you have links to reliable sources so I can see what they look like? I think that's a great idea!! :)

They can be zippered. Or snapped, drawstring, etc.

Re: Sewing
Thank you! I'll have to figure out where to get PUL. If I recall correctly, it isn't easy to locate. I don't think Joanne carries it. Someone will probably know in the cloth diapering community.
