yarn, knitting needles, heart, knitting love, Jodi, knit
I know it's no longer the 15th (speaking of which, I missed the Ides of March entirely this year... how the heck does that happen?), but these stats are from March 1 through March 15.

Please note, this is for entertainment purposes only.

How do you limit the date parameters like that???

I use a combination of LJ Archive (which will give the ID number for a specific comment) and LJ Comment Stats. I have to tweak it a bit, but it's the easiest way I've found so far.

The two big tweaks I do are deleting myself (I'm always top commenter) and thereby renumbering the list, as well as changing the size of the bars. Thankfully, this one was easy and I didn't have to do any subtraction at all.

On the website generator, it gives a URL. Just pop in the comment ID where you want it to start counting in place of the very last zero and you're good to go.

Your way of doing the stats sounds so much easier than how I do them. But hey, I get to use an excel Spreadsheet. I love creating and using spreadsheets. I know, I'm sad. I need to get a life

LOL!

You know, it's funny... using Excel never even entered my mind, although it makes perfect sense. I'm glad I found the combination I did because it makes it so simple.

Your method is much simpler

Well, it involves two programs and a little bit of cleanup, but I think if I didn't have the comment ID from LJ Archive, I'd want to pull out my hair. Last night had no math at all which was wonderful.

The previous time I did this, I had to do a little subtracting (ran the web stats twice to make it easier) and play around with the order and the images because of it. That was slightly more work.

I wish I could write a script that would allow me to plug in dates and just have it spit out what I want, you know?

I had a feeling I was going to be up there very close to the top. Oh dear, I've been a bit of a chatter box haven't I?
Oh well, At least you know I'm reading your posts. LOL

Very true!! It's no surprise us being at the top of each other's stats... ;) We *both* have been very talkative lately.

I might give someone else a chance. I'll stop commenting now. Oops This counts as another comment. Oh, well, I'll just keep going now. LOL

AKKK! I've fallen to #4, I believe in part because I didn't have internet for a whole week.

I will work my way back up! I love reading and commenting to your entries. :)

Actually, you're #12... ;) BUT, that's mostly because you haven't been online. Between being sick and moving and having no innernets, I'm not surprised.

Thanks!! I'm not dumping anyone based on comments, so no worries. :) Although... I do LOVE comments! ;)

GAH! I knew I was 12, I have no idea why I typed 4! lol.

I'm never on these stats for anyone. I only comment if I have something to say that ten other people haven't already said. Bt I read every day! *grins*

You'll be on at the end of the month for sure!

That's how I am. If everyone else has already said what I planned to say, I rarely bother to say it (unless it's something about which I feel very strongly). I'm usually just at the computer a lot lately. :(

Here I go again...

I might have a go at doing the stats for my journal to see about comments over all time.

LOL

I saw you did the stats. I read it on the phone but haven't had a chance to respond yet. I'm getting there...

Yup.

I'm a bit annoyed I can't use LJ Archive 'cos of running ubuntu.

Although I might see if I can download it later and run it via wine.

The top two tend to get chatty in comments... I don't even think they realize they're doing it most times. It's actually how I wound up friending [info]louenn. We had gotten chatty in someone else's journal ([info]billzy's, I think). It's been fun!

but I couldn't get that report done...I kept getting lj comments in my inbox!
[info]sm00bs wrote:
Mar. 17th, 2008 09:41 pm (UTC)
LOL I know how that goes! I actually have to force myself to get up to do the dishes when my inbox is full. I keep thinking I can just reply to one more comment. In the meantime my friends page is filling up with unread entries. You should have seen me at Christmas (you might have noticed it a little). I was stressing hardcore because i wasn't able to reply to comments and entries as much as I wanted. It was so painful!! ;)

Ha! Actually I'm generally not around at Christmas time...we get the week between Christmas and New Years off...and I generally don't hit the internet from home (just cause that's relationship time) so my posting tends to be sparse around then!
[info]sm00bs wrote:
Mar. 17th, 2008 09:50 pm (UTC)
There was so much going on this past Christmas and i didn't even leave town! Of course, I brought it all on myself. I love to bake and made little cookie trays for all the neighbors and various people from B's work.

When I'm out of town I usually read and post from my phone but don't comment on anything I've read. I always feel so guilty, but it's not often it happens.
[info]uawildcatgrl wrote:

I totally understand...Christmas and weekends is when you'll find I'm most absent.
[info]sm00bs wrote:

Yeah, same here. I don't sit at the computer as often when B is home. He inspires me to not be lazy. ;)

Jeff and I made a deal when we moved in together...when we are home together and awake...neither of us is on the computer! So yeah...I don't computer much when he's around!
[info]sm00bs wrote:
Mar. 17th, 2008 10:01 pm (UTC)
That's not a bad deal, but there are too many things we both tend to do online that probably shouldn't be done at work (posting on craigslist, etc.). Usually if one is on the computer the other is as well, though. ;)
[info]uawildcatgrl wrote:
Mar. 17th, 2008 10:16 pm (UTC)
Well then that's good!

(we're not strict about it...like if one of us wants to check on something it's cool...just not...8 hours or anything on the computer!)
[info]sm00bs wrote:
Mar. 17th, 2008 10:46 pm (UTC)
Oh yeah... we try not to do that. I know there are times when he just wants to play a game (usually it's on the ps2, but sometimes he wants to play Civ or something on the PC) and he knows there are times when I have found work to do online, but usually we're pretty good about it (or we're on the laptop in the same room while the other reads a magazine or something). I can be pretty bad if I'm not careful, though.
