I'm sitting here with Sophie in the living room, now that lunch is over. We can hear the kids screaming and playing outside. It sounds like they're having a wonderful time, too. I'm rater surprised Sophie hasn't heard them, but she's wrapped up in her Quiet Loud book by Leslie Patricelli. She's doing an excellent job reading it, too. She's very quiet on the quiet parts and very loud on the loud parts.

Heh, of course I typed that too soon. She now hears the kids and is repeatedly announcing it. Poor kid. I'd let her go outside, but...

It's snowing.

That's right, snowing. It was 70° F here yesterday and today it is snowing. Big, wet, sticky flakes are falling from the sky. The roofs are all covered in white. The snow is sticking in some places on the ground, but melting in others (our garden area is covered in snow, but the area around the garden is green). What's funny about this particular snow storm is it's our first real snow of the winter, and most likely it's our last. It snowed a few flakes on Thanksgiving, but nothing of any real importance. I think that's the only other snow we've seen this season.

I've heard we're supposed to get somewhere between one and three inches of this stuff. I have a feeling if we actually get that much, it won't be gone tomorrow. It might, but I don't think it's supposed to be that warm tomorrow.

It's not just floating from the sky, either. It's actually a bit blustery out there. If it weren't so windy and if she actually had snow pants or a snowsuit, I might consider letting her play outside. She'll just have to enjoy the flakes from inside this time around. Perhaps next year she'll get to play in the snow.

For now, however, we're going to cuddle together under blankets on the sofa while reading books together and every now and then watching the snow as it falls from the sky. It's not even falling in big flakes now; it's falling in clumps. Yes, everything really is bigger in Texas.

Oh great, whatever you're getting I'm going to be getting here in Houston in a few hours, except the snow will be a cold miserable rain by the time it reaches me.

The weather has been getting weirder and weirder, hasn't it? :P

I'd much rather have rain, especially with B out and about today, although even the rain can be treacherous, I know.

You should see it... This is middle of winter type snow... not end of winter type snow. It's crazy! The snow is really starting to stick now. Our backyard is nearly covered. The dog wants to go out but as soon as I open the back door, he'll wuss out, I'm sure.

I just can't get over how strange the weather's been. First, last year and all of the crazy rains all summer long, and now this? Seriously... we don't get snow in March! ;)

My family will just laugh at me and say something like, "Oh, stinks to be you... try moving back up north and dealing with it all the time." I'm so pathetic now. I used to go out in weather like this without a coat (sometimes even in shorts!). Not today, though... no way!

Sophie can read?

I think she's mostly repeating the words she's heard us read based on the pictures. I have a friend whose son did the same at two years of age (much better than Sophie does right now, too).

Believe me, I'd be having four kinds of heart attacks if that were the case, though... ;)

You guys didn't get snow Monday night?? We got over an inch!

No, I think it was thinking about snowing here, but it basically just was freezing rain or sleet or something. We didn't get snow at all. I had heard a few people say it snowed, though. One of my friends in Carrollton mentioned it, and one of our friends from Georgia noticed snow when she landed at DFW Monday night. Crazy, huh?

We've certainly got a lot now! ;)

BTW, I meant to vote in your poll earlier for the 16th, but now I can't find it. Good luck with that decision!

I deleted that post-- after talking to a friend of mine, she sorta talked some sense into me and now I'm going to do it after I get back from Italy. ;-)

I'm about to post pictures of the snow here. SQUEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE SNOW. ;-)

LOL I saw the pictures!! Yours are much better than mine. I haven't decided if I'm going to post them or not.

That was really going to be my suggestion, but it wasn't an option! ;)

Your post reminded me I need to get it in gear and get a basket together for Sophie for Easter this year... Ugh.

Good to know! Yeah... having a show right now would probably seem like an "I need $" ploy, which is kind of what it FELT like. I'll be ok without doing it... and it'd be nice to incorporate MY beads into jewelry after I get back!

Plus you'll have more time to be ready and all that as well. I think that's the perfect plan.

I'm so excited about your trip for you. I can't wait to hear all about it!

I got snow - just a little - Monday. And I'm just a few miles away from you.

Yeah, lots of places got snow.. just not us.

12 miles is enough of a difference, I suppose.

Actually, come to think of it.... there's got to be a place where it's snowing in one yard and not the next, so I suppose one foot is enough of a difference, even.

*pounds chest* damn right woman! :D

If this is global warming, I'm not so bothered. Those idiots living on the gulf coast just need to learn how to build better houses (that float!).

Yeah, that's another of Sophie's favorites. I think we had Big Little before Quiet Loud. Actually, those are probably two of my favorite books as well. The illustrations are so cute. :)
