Because Halloween is coming up and the holiday is probably the holiday when candy is given most freely, the Top Five today will focus on candy. I might try to do a run of these this week, since there are so many types of candy. It all depends on how much time I find myself having each day.

For this Top Five, choose your five favorite candies from any category (chocolate, gum, hard candies, jellies or gummies, etc.).

Well, I honestly don't remember putting paraffin in the chocolate, but my guess it could be left out if you keep the candies cool enough. Most chocolate has paraffin in it anyhow. The recipe we used to use is here: http://community.livejournal.com/family_recipes/31919.html

I tried searching for this recipe elsewhere and couldn't find one that used butter AND powdered sugar. I think it would be fun for you to make them with Gabe. They're pretty easy and they taste so darn good, too!! :)

I have made that recipe for years....as a longer of Reese's i can attest that these balls taste just as good...personally, I think they taste better! I normally get the chocolate bark and forget the parafin stuff and it works. Adam loves rolling the balls too.

I have a feeling I'll be making some of these soon. The only problem with this is B doesn't like peanut butter. I don't understand how that can be possible, but it's true. Crazy guy.

I'll have to make them for Christmas trays to pass around or something.... if I can wait that long. ;)

I completely forgot about Violet Crumble. I never saw it until I moved here. Can you believe I hate candy?

I can believe it. I know a few people who are crazy that way. ;)

I love Violet Crumble. I discovered it while teaching a unit on Australia to my 7th and 8th graders when I lived in Illinois. At that time, I actually had to order it from down under! ;)

Jelly Bellies!
I can't believe I forgot them. I looove Jelly Bellies. I had to cheat and just put chocolate bars because 5 is no where near enough space. Can it cover Reese's Pieces? That's probably in my top five as well... Although it keeps looking like my top 5 is probably closer to top twenty ^.^

Also, Sprees & Smarties definitly deserve honorable mention.

Re: Jelly Bellies!
I was asking if chocolate bars could include reese's pieces. Rollos too. Mmm Rollos...

Re: Jelly Bellies!
Hmm... That would be really good to have Reeses Pieces in a chocolate bar. Aren't there already chocolate bars with caramel, though? I don't like the chocolate in Rollos. It's too waxy for me.
